March 4th to 10th 2012 is SEAWEEK

Here’s another opportunity for a local cleanup project.

Each year, the Marine Education Society of Australasia (MESA) runs Seaweek to promote educational issues of relevance to the marine environment and provides a range of resources. The theme this year for Seaweek is ‘Marine Debris – Clean it Up!’  Here’s more resources for bayside Councils (and inland ones too as their waterways lead to the bay).
MESA provides:

  • Background information on their website about marine debris – types, sources, locations, environmental impacts;
  • Suggest ways we can reduce the amount of marine debris;
  • Provide activities for students related to marine debris.
